Oakland A's Athletics Baseball MLB Blog

If you haven’t heard, Frank Thomas was released on Sunday by the Blue Jays.   After rumours and A’s management keeping a tight lip, it was announced finally that he was signed by the A’s for $337,000. It is pro-rated based on the minimum $390,000 you must pay MLB players for a full season. Read the official news here here

Personally, I don’t care how low they are paying him. If they are going to get a over the hill designated hitter, they should get BONDS not Thomas or at least sign Bonds and then have Thomas as a backup, since Thomas is such a “bargain”. Thomas is struggling and is the last person you want as the main person in the designated hitter role. Bonds is a lot better offensively even though he is older and he would cause a tremendous surge in fans coming from S.F and the rest of the bay area to see Barry again!

What the hell is wrong with Oaklands management? Sign Barry and Thomas together.

I agree the A’s should sign Bonds too. what gives? If that happened the A’s would be sweet!!!

It would be cool to see Bonds batting 3rd (cause he always gets on base with walks) and thomas batting 4th cleanup, but both of them are only DH worthy now so they couldn’t be in the lineup on the same day.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY FRANK THOMAS SUCKS!!!

Did you see him yesterday, game on the line and he groundout doubles at a point they could have come back. He was 0-4 yesterday.

A’s fans don’t want him no more than Toronto did. Big hurt = BIG DUD

Are you guys crazy???? Bonds would be a huge negative liability for the A´s. He would NOT fit in at all and probably lead to a meltdown amoung players and team spirit. A´s fans in the stadium would never accept him. Give Frank a chance….Dont forget how he was a hero for our team just a couple years ago. Lighten up and stop being so quick to start bitching every time A´s management makes a move.

I think we can give Thomas a chance, but I would like to see Bonds and Thomas both on the team, with Bonds getting preference. That is a pretty bold statement to say A’s fans would never accept him. I think many A’s fans including me, would accept Bonds and he would fill in a nearly empty stadium. Theyd probably have to even remove those covers off the second deck to make room. ;) I think the hypocritcal way Barry has been treated by baseball is pretty rotten. I and many others want to see Bonds bat for another year in the Bay area and it probably would be a good business move for A’s management. Want do they have to lose, no one is even going to the A’s games right now.

Toronto must have really wanted to get rid of him to eat up a 9 million dollar loss. LOL

Living in Toronto won’t be the same without seeing Big Frank around town!
