Oakland Athletics created a 5 run lead early in the game by the 3rd inning. In the 8th the Rangers made their presence known when they loaded up the bases on zero outs. A couple runs scored making the game 5-3 with bases loaded. Sammy Sosa had the day off, but was put in to bat with the bases loaded.

So did Sosa hit #599 and give the Rangers the lead? No, Sosa in the end struck out. It was a reminder of he is definitely no barry bonds in these situations. Bond usually gets on base through a walk or hit or at least puts the ball in play. Sorry Sammy, you’ll have to wait another day for 599.
